Breakaways are one of the most exciting—and most challenging—situations a goalie will face.

At this Goalie Assistant Skill Camp, goalies will learn a simple, repeatable system for handling breakaways with confidence. We’ll focus on reading the rush, managing depth and gap control, staying patient, and forcing shooters to make the perfect play instead of giving them an easy goal.

Throughout the session, goalies will work on:

  • Proper challenge and depth
  • Gap control and retreat timing
  • Reading the shooter’s hands and body language
  • Patience through dekes and fakes
  • Stick positioning and poke checks
  • Save selection and recoveries
  • Competing through rebounds and second opportunities

Camp Details

Dryland: 4:00 PM – 4:50 PM
On-Ice Training: 5:15 PM – 6:15 PM

Goalies will begin with 50 minutes of goalie-specific dryland focused on movement, reactions, and breakaway concepts before taking those skills onto the ice for a fast-paced hour of game-like breakaway situations.

Whether you’re preparing for tryouts or looking to become more confident in one-on-one situations, this camp will give you the tools to make shooters earn every goal.
